Greetings friends and family, Aug 12, 2011
It is so nice to feel a cool breeze coming in the window as I write this letter. The weather has been very hot and dry, but about a week ago we had a lovely rain. Deuteronomy 28:12 says rain is God’s good treasure-- how wonderful to see the trees and grass green up! All we do in the natural like watering can not compare to what God does with His good treasure of rain.
This year has been a busy one with finishing up our cd “This World Is Not My Home.” It seemed as if it took a long time, but was worth the wait and we are pleased with the finished product.
In January our oldest son was married (No not James). John is twenty-six and is the oldest boy. All the boys were in the wedding. James was the best man and the rest groomsmen. It brought tears to my eyes to see them all looking so grown up.
Along with a busy schedule of singing engagements we have been remodeling a house. It has been a very all encompassing job but it is finished. -- Just in time-- so we can get ready for the next trip!
On September 11th through the 17th we will be in Louisville, Kentucky at the National Quartet Convention. We will be playing a showcase on Monday the 12th and Thursday the 15th. We are all very excited about this opportunity and we thank God because we know it is entirely the Lord.
In Preparation for the trip, there has been much to fix on our Freightliner Semi and fifth wheel. The boys and their dad are doing all the work themselves. They are pretty good mechanics, carpenters, and all around handymen.
Also the boys are burning the midnight oil recording a new cd with our son-in-law Russell Davis who is our recording engineer and sound man. Russell has taught the boys so much. He is in his own right an accomplished musician and plays the saxophone with the big bands in the Oklahoma City and surrounding areas. This new cd we hope to have done to take with us to Kentucky.
When we are available we sure enjoy babysitting our four grand children, having two- three year olds and
two- one year olds is a lot of fun and Andrea is a regular little mom. When we go playing, Billy, three
years
Says,” wait guys I’ll get my mandolin and play with you!” No doubt he will play with us some day soon.
We have been blessed to make many new friends and to catch up with old friends on our many travels. We sure hope that you will keep us in your prayers and keep in touch.
Blessings, Brenda
